Fra Beecher

Tutor Profile

About

Fra Beecher is a photographic artist who enjoys working with cameraless photography. Most recently she has been making watergrams in the River Avon, where she swims regularly, and using negatives from these images to make cyanotypes in her garden. Fra began her darkroom education at Stroud School of Art, and later taught photogram and 35mm processing and printing workshops at the same college. She finds joy in tactile processes and sharing ideas and skills with other creatives; she was inspired by Folk House Darkroom's manager, Sophie Sherwood, to use the cyanotype solution as a writing ink and is currently exploring this as a way to bring her interest in poetry together with her photographic practice.
